Center for Social Cognition

At the Center for Social Cognition at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we are conducting research on the neural basis of social behaviors, such as empathy, social decision-making, and group dynamics. In recent years, social neuroscience has emerged as a pivotal area of research, bridging the gap between neuroscience and social sciences. Advances in brain imaging, neurobiology, and computational modeling have provided unprecedented insights into how social behaviors are regulated by neural processes. This interdisciplinary field has significant implications for understanding mental health, social cognition, and complex social behaviors, which are increasingly relevant in today’s interconnected world.

The Center aims to foster collaboration between neuroscientists, psychologists, sociologists, and clinicians to address complex social phenomena. Our team translates research findings into practical applications that benefit society through mental health interventions and policy recommendations.
