Mental Health Support

Mental health, like physical health, is a priority for our entire Mount Sinai community. Mental health symptoms are common, and we strongly encourage and support seeking professional mental health care when it is needed. To this end, we have a variety of mental health programs for all of our employees, faculty and trainees within the Mount Sinai Health System.

Psychiatry Services (medication management and/or psychotherapy)

  • Center for Stress, Resilience and Personal Growth (CSRPG)
    CSRPG provides resilience training workshops, outreach, and free confidential behavioral health care to Mount Sinai Health System all students, trainees, faculty, and staff. CSRPG's general operating hours are 9AM-5PM Monday-Friday, though earlier and later options may be available.

  • Mount Sinai Department of Psychiatry Faculty Practice
    Psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and social workers provide confidential psychiatric evaluation and ongoing treatment including medication management and/or psychotherapy. Services are available by telepsychiatry or in-person as needed. Please call (212-659-8752) or email (PsychiatryFPA@mssm.edu) for scheduling. Accepts UMR Top-Tier and other selected insurance.
  • Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Outpatient Program
    Providers offer telepsychiatry and telephonic visits, as well as in-person visits as needed. Employees seeking psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, and/or medication management for depression, anxiety, trauma, and complex psychiatric illnesses through our virtual platform are encouraged to contact any of the following numbers, no matter your usual hospital site.   • Mount Sinai Primary Care
    Your primary care physician can offer assessment and management of some mental health concerns (such as anxiety and depression) and suggest next steps to meet your health care needs. Brief Counseling

  • MSHS Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free, confidential short-term counseling by licensed social workers to Mount Sinai employees and your covered dependents. Call 212-241-8937 for scheduling.
  • Individual Self-Care Consultations by Mount Sinai Calm:
    Mount Sinai Calm offers one-on-one well-being phone consultations with a highly experienced and compassionate licensed social worker. Based on your conversation, you will receive a holistic personal care plan and set of resources that support your overall health. Psychiatry Services (medication management and/or psychotherapy)

  • Student and Trainee Mental Health Service (STMH)
    ISMMS provides mental health services to all of our medical and graduate students, resident physicians, and postdoctoral fellows through our Student Trainee Mental Health (STMH) Our services include consultations, psychotherapy and counseling, medication management, referral for adjustment difficulties, burnout, depression, anxiety, and attentional symptoms. STMH has extended hours multiple days a week to accommodate students’ schedules. Schedule an appointment at 212-659-8805 or via email.
  • WellConnect
    For urgent or crisis situations, call 212-241-2400 (or 1-866-339-7725). This is a dedicated 24/7 crisis hotline provided via WellConnect. Callers will be connected to a licensed counselor who can provide crisis intervention and counseling, urgent mental health support, referral to mental health resources, or assistance in accessing emergency services (911 or Mobile Crisis Teams) when appropriate.
  • NYC 988 connects you with suicide prevention and crisis counseling, peer support, and short-term counseling services. Call 1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355) to schedule appointments or find other mental health services.

  • Interactive Screening Program (ISP)
    The Interactive Screening Program (ISP), in collaboration with STMH and the Office of Graduate Medical Education, provides an opportunity for trainees to anonymously take a brief questionnaire for stress, depression, and other mental health conditions. Trainees who complete the anonymous screening will receive a personal response from a program counselor who works with STMH and will be connected to appropriate mental health resources. Mental Health Protocol for Threatened or Actual Loss of Life

  • To access the "Well-Being Crisis Response Protocol” to help direct mental health support and communications in times of crisis, please email owbr@mssm.edu. This protocol is intended for critical incidents involving the acute loss of life, including the completed suicide or unexpected death of an ISMMS/MSHS student, trainee, faculty, or staff member. We also include guidance for response in the event of expected deaths, unexpected deaths off campus and threatened loss of life (openly expressed suicidal ideation, suicidal gestures, suicide attempts and a missing colleague).
