History

The Office of the Chairman of the Mount Sinai Boards of Trustees was originally called the President. The name changed in 1968 with the advent of the Medical Center, when the Chief Executive Officer became known as the President.

Scope and Content

These files are focused on the period 1975-76, with only a few files from other years. Still, they show the type of issues with which the Chairman was involved, including Medical Center personnel and contract matters, fund raising, and interactions with regulatory and government offices. There are also files on internal Board matters. Much of the correspondence is with high level administrative staff, including Thomas C. Chalmers, M.D., President and Dean; S. David Pomrinse, M.D., Director of the Hospital; and Jack Herman, Vice President for Development.

Copies of the Board of Trustee minutes were discarded as they duplicate the official minutes already maintained in the Archives.
