Historical and Digital Collections

The Arthur H. Aufses, Jr., MD Archives Catalog houses an extensive collection of historical materials that document the rich heritage of the Mount Sinai Health System. Our collections include diverse media ranging from photographs and documents to audio and video recordings, dating from the year 1820 to the present day. These invaluable materials capture the voices, experiences, and achievements of individuals who have shaped our institutions.

Through careful preservation and digitization efforts, we have created a digital archive of our audiovisual collections, making these historical resources more accessible than ever. Our oral history collections features interviews with physicians, administrators, and staff members, offering unique insights into the evolution of medical practice and education at Mount Sinai. Additionally, our archives contain recordings of significant events, meetings, lectures, and ceremonies that mark pivotal moments in our institutional history.

We provide access to both digitized recordings and their corresponding transcripts. While many recordings have been successfully preserved in digital format, some historical materials are available only as transcripts due to the original media being lost or deteriorated. To complement these primary sources, we maintain a curated collection of publications chronicling the history of our hospitals and medical school, offering narratives of the Mount Sinai Health System's development and achievements through the years.
