Records Management

The Mount Sinai Records Management Program serves the entire Mount Sinai Health System. We assist employees in managing records throughout the entire lifecycle: from creation or receipt, through the use and maintenance stage, until final disposition either to destruction or permanent retention in The Arthur H. Aufses, Jr., MD Archives.

If you are seeking information regarding your medical records, please contact Medical Records.

More detailed information on the program is available to Health System employees through the Intranet.

Records Retention

This retention schedule identifies the categories of records that Mount Sinai owns and defines the length of time they should be retained. These retention requirements are based on the various laws, regulations, and rules that Mount Sinai must adhere to, and takes into account operational, research, and organizational needs. Using these retention schedules allows Mount Sinai staff to responsibly discard outdated records in a timely manner, making the institution's information management more efficient and cost effective.

A search of the schedule will return records series used to categorize records.

If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact our Records Manager, Andrew Shultz.
