Dedicated to the study of biomedically important questions, the Department of Microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai offers educational opportunities to medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. We also accept high school and college students for training and research experience.
Many journal clubs and research seminars are available across the institution, through the department, and other scientific institutions in New York City. Students are encouraged to attend local and national scientific meetings and report on their research.
We offer two training programs: the Microbiology Multidisciplinary Training Area and the Training Program in Mechanisms of Virus-Host Interactions.
Research Facilities
Fully equipped for research, our department is located in the Annenberg Building, a dedicated area for basic and clinical research in the biomedical sciences. We maintain a substantial library, complemented by the School's library on the 11th floor. We provide computer resources through remote-job-entry terminals connected to the School’s computer center. Central animal facilities are located on the 26th floor.
