SCHOOL LEADERSHIP

Throughout his tenure as the Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the President for Academic Affairs at the Mount Sinai Health System, Dr. Charney provided updates, remarks, and commentaries at events sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His addresses to diverse audiences—including students, residents, fellows, executive leadership teams, and industry experts—were consistently focused on moving the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to the next level.

Presentations and Publications

On an annual basis Dr. Charney delivered a State of the School update. This presentation highlighted recent achievements and opportunities for further strategic growth.

Dr. Charney regularly presented at conferences, industry meetings, and campus ceremonies representing Mount Sinai.

At the end of each year, Dr. Charney recognized the graduating class of the Medical School, PhD Programs, and MD-PhD Program in his celebratory Commencement address.

Joined by their families, faculty, and executive leadership, the annual White Coat Ceremony marks a critical milestone for every physician in training.  Speaking from decades of experience and straight from the heart, Dr. Charney used this opportunity to spotlight what it takes for any physician—new or well-established—to treat diverse patients with compassion, respect, and resiliency.
