Travel Support for Scholarly Year Fellows

As part of our commitment to supporting meaningful academic engagement, Scholarly Year Fellows may be eligible for up to $2,000 in travel support to present their work at professional conferences.

To qualify, Fellows should meet the following criteria:

  • Strong faculty endorsement: Your faculty mentor supports your progress and scholarly contributions.
  • Active participation at a conference: You’ve had an abstract accepted or received an invitation to speak—an exciting opportunity to share the results of your hard work with the wider academic community. (Proof of acceptance is required and must be submitted in the travel request.)
  • Timely planning: A travel request must be submitted by the fellow, or designee, in Sinai Central at least one month before the event.

Faculty mentors are not permitted to provide any additional or supplemental financial support. However, Fellows are welcomed to secure external funding.

Please note that all travel funding is contingent on the Health System’s financial guidelines and budget availability. The Department reserves the right to modify or discontinue this travel stipend program based on institutional priorities.

If you're interested in participating in a yearlong fellowship, please contact Kassidy Velasquez, Fellowship Program Coordinator, at dermeducation@mountsinai.org for application requirements. Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year are accepted from April 1 to September 1.
