I am proud to welcome you to our Global Surgery Program, at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Mount Sinai is one of the premiere health systems with a Global Surgery Program, centered around providing surgical care to underserved areas around the world. For the last 25 years, we have been dedicated to bringing our surgeons, anesthesiologists, ancillary staff, as well as equipment and knowledge to various regions across the globe. We train future generations of surgeons in understanding and experiencing the challenges facing developing countries in providing surgical care. We are one of the few academic training hospitals with a global surgery rotation built into our general surgery residency program. Every graduating general surgery resident has had a one-month experience in global surgery.
I hope this website will serve as an educational base for surgeons, residents, and medical students who are interested in global surgery. Please explore these pages to learn more about the various projects across the world that our Mount Sinai surgeons and anesthesiologists have been involved with over the last few years. We are dedicated to bridging the gap in surgical care between the developing world and the environment here at Mount Sinai. Feel free to contact any of our mentors if you would like to get involved or need advice on how to incorporate global surgery into your practice.
