Message From the Vice Chair & Director

The landscape of public health continues to transform rapidly. At this critical moment, our world faces pressing public health challenges: the aftermath of global pandemics, rising health disparities, climate change-related health threats, mental health and chronic disease epidemics, and the urgent need for resilient and equitable health systems. These issues demand bold public health leadership, transdisciplinary, transparent, and rigorous team science, a deep sense of social responsibility, and urgent evidence-based solutions that promote public health.

At Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we lead transformative shifts that address urgent and complex public health issues. We are a vibrant, mission-driven academic community where innovation and impact guide our work every day and are at the core of everything we do. Our faculty are  distinguished in the public health sector both locally and globally, integrating in-depth experience in public health leadership, health policy and advocacy, emergency preparedness, and research directly into students’ educational experience. Students are integral to our mission to advance public health forward, developing foundational expertise and skills in healthcare leadership, epidemiology, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), biostatistics, clinical research, and global health.

From AI-powered analytics that help us understand complex big data to geospatial mapping systems that measure exposure and health patterns across populations, students build essential technical skills tailored to today’s evolving demands. With almost half of our student body coming from outside the United States, our classrooms and labs are enriched by a diversity of perspectives that enhance the learning experience and global impact. Our international collaborations span continents, tackling complex public health challenges in real-world settings.

Do you aspire to build expertise and cutting-edge skills to lead meaningful change in public health?

We have a place for you at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Join us on this important and transformative journey. Together, we can rise to this moment and make a difference in shaping a healthier world.
