Didactic Curriculum
A written curriculum with specific goals for each course is distributed to each fellow at the beginning of the academic year. Class formats include lectures, seminars and discussion. Courses include:
- Child and adolescent development
- Psychiatric assessment and diagnostic interviewing
- Psychological testing
- Psychiatric disorders of infancy, childhood and adolescence
- Psychosocial treatment modalities, including individual psychotherapy (supportive, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral), group therapy and family therapy
- Psychopharmacological treatments
- Ethical, legal and administrative issues
- Physical and sexual abuse
- Quality improvement
- Principles of pediatric, school and community consultation
- Neuroscience and genetics
- Research literacy and methodology
Regularly scheduled conferences include:
- Monthly case conferences
- Monthly journal club
- Weekly Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds
Supervision
Each fellow in each of the two years of training receives a minimum of two hours of individual supervision per week with additional supervision as needed. Attending supervisors are available at all times as needed
Appointment Contract
Fellows receive appointment contracts from Mount Sinai Services of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai – Elmhurst. Salary and benefits are competitive with other residency and fellowship training programs in the New York City area.
