Criteria for graduation include: 1) satisfactory completion of required coursework and clinical rotations (including required charting and other record-keeping), 2) satisfactory demonstration of competencies in the six areas required by the ACGME, 3) satisfactory demonstration of participation in scholarly activities, and 4) adherence to expected standards of professional and ethical behavior.
Scholarly Activities
Participation in scholarly activities is a requirement for graduation from the program. Examples of scholarly activity include clinical research and preparation of case reports and literature reviews for presentation and publication. Each fellow is assigned a faculty mentor for such activities, and projects are selected with the approval of the program director.
Fellows' Roles as Teachers
Fellows in both years of training provide teaching to residents in general psychiatry and medical students, prepare topics for presentation to co-fellows and attendings as part of the didactic curriculum, and are assigned to present lectures to residents in pediatrics.
