Research is an important part of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Fellows are encouraged to pursue clinical, basic, or translational research opportunities based on their fellowship and career goals.
During their first year, fellows select topics of interest and review existing literature to develop potential research questions. During the second and third years, fellows perform a wide range of clinical, translational, and laboratory research related to pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. As a fellow, you may choose to participate in ongoing research projects or initiate your own.
Fellows have access to collaborative basic and translational research in the Adult Division of Endocrine, Diabetes, and Bone Diseases and the Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Institute as well as a multitude of research laboratories at the School. We encourage our fellows to present their findings in peer-reviewed publications, as well as at national and international conferences.
