Center for Scientific Workforce Excellence and Advancement

The Center for Scientific Workforce Excellence and Advancement strives to strengthen the foundation and growth of the STEMM workforce within biomedical research enterprise to ensure the ongoing advancement of knowledge and innovation for all. We work toward this goal both at Mount Sinai and elsewhere. We take a rigorous, research-driven approach towards advancing this goal.

Mission Statement

The Center for Scientific Workforce Excellence and Advancement is dedicated to the application of novel, empirically driven approaches to addressing systemic barriers to the recruitment, retention, development, and advancement of STEMM trainees and investigators, with particular emphasis on the biomedical research workforce. This is essential for ensuring ongoing scientific progress and biomedical innovation. The three foundational pillars of our mission are focused on:

  1. Research
  2. Training
  3. Advancement

Together, these three pillars create a framework that optimally supports our scientific workforce, advances biomedicine, and ensures that scientific innovation is accessible to a broad spectrum of researchers and communities.
