Message From the Program Directors

  1. Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital Center

For over half a century, Mount Sinai has been a leader in cardiovascular medicine. Under the direction of Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, MBA, Director of the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital and the Dr. Valentín Fuster Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, our cardiology programs provide fellows access to world-renowned experts across all aspects of cardiovascular medicine and surgery, cutting-edge research opportunities, and the application of the latest innovations in patient care.

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship training encompasses the most advanced technologies in disease prevention, multimodality imaging, interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, cardiac electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation, vascular medicine, and congenital heart disease. The program's distinctive strength lies in combining this tertiary academic medical center experience with intensive, mentored clinical training at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, a primary teaching hospital of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Elmhurst Hospital Center, a major hospital in the New York City public hospital system, serves one of the world's most ethnically diverse communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when Elmhurst gained national recognition as the epicenter of New York City's outbreak, our fellows served as front-line health care providers during a historic public health crisis. These exceptional physicians exemplify the program's commitment to service and stand as our strongest ambassadors.

The complementary training environments create unparalleled learning opportunities. This partnership transforms motivated, caring physicians into outstanding clinical cardiologists prepared to meet the evolving challenges of cardiovascular care. We invite you to join our distinguished program and become part of a legacy that has shaped cardiovascular medicine for generations.
