Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Health System

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai offers a comprehensive, one-year, non-accredited Spine Fellowship Program that covers the full spectrum of spinal pathology, including degenerative disease, traumatic injury, tumors, and deformity. During their time in the Department of Orthopedics at Icahn Mount Sinai, our fellows work alongside nationally recognized surgeons while gaining exposure to both open and minimally invasive procedures. They are also given dedicated time to devote to research.

Curriculum

Our fellows rotate at several hospitals within the Mount Sinai Health System, including The Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai West, and Mount Sinai Morningside. During these rotations, they work with spine surgery attendings to prepare surgical cases and manage inpatients. Over the course of the year, as our fellows further hone their technical skills, they assume increasing responsibility.

Beyond clinical experience, the Spine Surgery Fellowship provides an academic curriculum that includes weekly indications conferences, scheduled lectures, and Grand Rounds. Fellows are also expected to present cases at monthly spinal rounds. They additionally spend one day a week with limited clinical responsibilities, ensuring dedicated time for research activities. This dedicated research time includes preparation for papers, videos, and conferences, and the Department expects that fellows will produce at least one publishable work during their year at Icahn Mount Sinai, in either basic or clinical science.

How to Apply

The Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Health System offers competitive salary and benefits. Those interested should complete an application through the SF Match.
