Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside is a one-year subspecialty training program for physicians who have completed a clinical fellowship in general cardiology. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the fellowship teaches graduates to become fully proficient in performing all aspects of coronary and endovascular techniques. Five fellowship positions are available per year.

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship allows fellows to gain in-depth, hands-on training on more than 500 complex coronary interventions throughout the year. Our fellows enjoy excellent collaborative experiences with the esteemed cardiovascular surgery and heart valve teams at Mount Sinai Morningside, as well as clinical research opportunities throughout the Mount Sinai Health System.

About the Fellowship

  • Pedal/radial access for peripheral artery interventions
  • Complex percutaneous coronary intervention
  • Atherectomy—orbital, directional, laser
  • Distal embolic protection devices

Fellows learn how to manage cases safely and confidently through five learning settings. Fellows will be assigned to each hospital on a rotating basis.

Core Cardiac Cath Lab Rotations: Fellows will participate daily in the care of coronary and endovascular patients and participate in case selection and post-cath care. The rotations will be staggered in two- to three-month rotations.

On Call: Two fellows are on call for an assigned hospital each week. The on-call week includes night and weekend coverage of the interventional service. Assigned fellows will have primary responsibility for emergent consultations and procedures.

Clinic: For a half-day each week, fellows will attend the interventional cardiology clinic with an attending physician.

Didactic: Fellows will participate in the weekly didactic sessions of the assigned hospital.

Research: Fellows will perform clinical research related to interventional cardiology in the form of scholarly papers with case reports, abstract submissions, case presentations at national conferences, and original manuscripts. You can expect academic exposure to routine case presentations, journal club, research publications, and board review.

We will be accepting applications for positions that start on starting, July 1, 2025.
