Message From the Director

This is an exceptional time to train in Infectious Diseases, and we are excited to share what makes our fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West uniquely positioned to launch your career. Our two-year program offers something truly distinctive: comprehensive training across Manhattan's diverse patient populations at three dynamic sites—Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai West, and Mount Sinai-Union Square. This provides our fellows with clinical experiences that most physicians never encounter in their entire careers.

Our curriculum emphasizes the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s six core competencies through immersive clinical rotations, dedicated research time, and didactic sessions, with increasing responsibilities in patient care, leadership, and teaching—all designed to prepare you for board certification and professional success.

As a fellow in the program, you'll gain expertise in general infectious diseases, transplant infectious diseases, HIV care through our Institute for Advanced Medicine, viral hepatitis, microbiology, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship. Our fellows also participate in one of the nation's largest outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy programs, giving you hands-on experience at the forefront of infectious disease care.

Our faculty are deeply committed to your professional development and your personal wellness. We provide dedicated mentorship, support for research and scholarly activities, and guidance in creating a career path tailored to your own goals, whether that leads to academic medicine, private practice, or hospital-based roles. We understand that work-life balance is essential to long-term success and provide regular wellness programming and flexible scheduling that accommodates different lifestyle preferences.

From introducing the first aseptic techniques to leading groundbreaking AIDS research and spearheading COVID-19 clinical trials, the Division of Infectious Diseases integrates over a century of innovative practice and research into your training experience. We look forward to training the next generation of leaders in Infectious Diseases.
