Program
The Mount Sinai Health System Department of Emergency Medicine is a consortium of Emergency Departments across the NYC Metropolitan area aimed at providing quality and innovative pediatric, adult and geriatric emergency care to the communities we serve. The mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai is to deliver exceptional, holistic care that is innovative, efficient, and patient centered. We lead impactful scientific research, training, and education to prepare the next generation of health care leaders to serve our diverse communities with compassion. We offer three of the leading training programs in Emergency Medicine, with a reputation for excellence and innovation. The Department of Emergency Medicine consists of more than seven Mount Sinai hospital-based emergency departments as well as clinical and academic affiliations.

The Health Care Leadership fellowship is structured to provide in depth exposure to multiple aspects of ED leadership and management through didactics, hands on immersive exposure to local hospital and system operations, national conference attendance, committee membership, QI projects and practicum work.

The fellow will be a fully participating member of the ED management and leadership team. They will work directly on ED committees and have a significant role in multiple quality and operational projects, including those where they are tasked to lead meaningful change in the department. As a member of the ED management team, the fellow will become proficient in issues related to clinical operations, patient safety, education, information technology development, and quality improvement. Supervision, guidance, and mentorship will be provided by the fellowship director and administrative leadership team. Upon completion of the fellowship, the graduate will be prepared to work effectively within and across departments to enhance patient safety, navigate patient experience, develop strategic models and solve operational issues. They will gain the ability to be an effective leader in any type of Emergency Department with confidence.

Fellow(s) are considered attending faculty and are expected to work clinically at a designated MSHS emergency department(s), most often Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. Compensation for the fellow includes a competitive salary based on half-time attending status. CME funds will be provided to the fellow.
