Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology

Our mission at the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology is to deliver excellent patient care, engage in transformative research, and provide rigorous education for the future leaders of gastroenterology.

Since its inception, excellence has been the foundation of the division. Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology. Our preeminent physicians, surgeons, radiologists, hepatologists, and pathologists have built a dynamic body of knowledge in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), peptic ulcer disease, esophageal disorders, gastrointestinal cancer, and liver, biliary, and pancreatic diseases. Each day we use this knowledge to create better outcomes for our patients and a more comprehensive education for our students.

To ensure the fulfillment of our mission, the Division of Gastroenterology has launched several digestive disease centers of excellence, including the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Center, Mount Sinai Center for Gastrointestinal Physiology and Motility, and the Center for Advanced Colonoscopy and Polypectomy.

Each center, with its distinct quality and performance metrics, is supported by a common technology platform for medical record keeping, scheduling, and endoscopy—a frequent resource required across gastroenterology. Using this common platform helps ensure our patients are receiving highly comprehensive care throughout the Mount Sinai Health System.

Our shared specialties include IBD, geriatrics, motility, advanced endoscopy, and nutrition. Our expert care and training are also available at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West.
