Master of Science in Biomedical Data Science and AI Admissions

From investigating complex health care challenges to contributing to the age of precision medicine, the Master of Science in Biomedical Data Science and AI program sets you up for success in an evolving, growing sector. We welcome your application to the program and look forward to having you.

Applicants for the MSDSAI program should have some background in quantitative and/or computational disciplines. Our students typically arrive with undergraduate degrees in areas such as computer science, engineering, biotechnology, mathematics, chemistry, or physics. Relevant quantitative coursework (such as calculus or linear algebra) and computer programming experience will be evaluated.

Application Requirements

To apply for our program, please submit the following:

  • Completed application and $80 application fee
  • Current curriculum vitae or resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from people who can directly assess your ability to conduct independent research
  • Personal statement clearly explaining your motivation for attaining this degree and desired outcomes from this degree program
  • GRE scores may be submitted, but are not generally required for admission
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate programs attended

The program directors will review and potentially consider exceptions to these admission requirements on a case-by-case basis consistent with the policies of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. In addition, the Admission Committee may decide in individual cases that further evidence of preparedness in certain areas is needed, at which time they may recommend a standardized test or assessment in a relevant subject matter.

Individuals who are from groups historically underrepresented in science are encouraged to apply to our program. We are committed to improving the diversity of our students, trainees, and faculty. All decisions are made on merit and without consideration of race, gender, color, creed, age, national origin, handicap, veteran status, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Application Deadline and Decisions

We begin accepting applications in mid-August for enrollment the following year. Our priority application deadline is March 1, and the final application deadline is June 1 for the Fall semester.

Once admitted, you will be directed to an online enrollment site. Please refer to your acceptance letter for the deadline to accept our offer.

International Applicants

We encourage applications from qualified individuals, regardless of country of origin or where you received your academic and research training. Graduates from foreign colleges or universities who have completed an academic program equivalent to an American bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply. Following both government and school regulated processes, admissions requirements include:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or testing equivalent with a score of 100 or higher, or equivalent (such as IELTS, CAE, PTE), only if you are from a non-English-speaking country and did not earn a degree from an English-speaking university or curriculum. Applicants submitting IELTS scores (minimum score of 7.5) must send them directly to our admissions office at the following address:
