Advanced Certificate in Public Health

The Advanced Certificate in Public Health program is designed for individuals who want to gain practical skills and foundational knowledge in public health. If you find that public health is your passion, and you wish to complete the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, our certificate program can seamlessly transfer into the MPH program.

The Advanced Certificate in Public Health program at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is designed for:

  • People who wish to take a few courses before enrolling in a graduate public health program.
  • Working professionals who want to gain practical public health skills.
  • People who want to transition into or advance in the field of public health.

You will learn in a collaborative environment that includes public health professionals as well as individuals from across many other landscapes. No two days are the same in our classrooms; you will learn from faculty who are experts in epidemiology, human rights, health care policy, and biostatistics.

As a student in the Advanced Certificate in Public Health program, you will take 15 credits within one school year, and choose from three concentrations of study:

If you apply and are accepted into our Master of Public Health program, you can apply the credits that you accrued in the program toward the degree.
