Fostering an equitable, and inclusive environment in science and medicine is an ongoing challenge for medical schools in the United States.
At the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), equity and inclusion in medicine and science is critical because it serves to drive institutional excellence, making our outstanding institution even stronger. Through the Mount Sinai Health System's Office for Diversity and Inclusion's (ODI), Patricia S. Levinson Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs (CMCA) and the Center of Excellence in Youth Education (CEYE), we are well positioned to support the advancement of all students (from middle school through to medical and graduate school). Further, we aim to advance equity and inclusion at all levels within the School by directing innovative, enhancing, integrative, and coordinated approaches in education, research, and service with activities addressing the priority health concerns of the communities we serve.
