Dedicated to the mission of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, the Division of Rheumatology focuses on excellence in the delivery of patient care, research, and education. Our complement of faculty and fellows continues to expand and foster this growth and continued excellence. We provide outstanding care to our patients while furthering basic knowledge pertinent to rheumatologic diseases.
Our clinical programs, including telehealth consults, continue to expand across the Mount Sinai Health System. We are especially proud of our innovative clinical collaborations that aim to provide multidisciplinary coordinated care to our patients.
The educational program has expanded to include a total of six fellowship slots for which we receive hundreds of applications each year. Faculty from the Division of Rheumatology have an outsized (and increasing) role in undergraduate medical education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai including participation in the curriculum on art and science of medicine; immunology; molecules, cells and genes course; and musculoskeletal pathophysiology. Faculty also organize regional continuing medical education events, including the New York State Rheumatology Society (Dr. Margrit Wiesendanger, President, 2022-2024) and State of the Art Rheumatology for Primary Care Physicians (Dr. Yousaf Ali, Course Director, and Dr. Margrit Wiesendanger, Co-director).
On the research front, our programs continue to grow in various new areas, with particular expansion of lupus research and new clinical trials in CAR-T in severe autoimmune diseases including lupus.
I invite you to explore our website that features diverse and growing faculty members, their research interests, and training opportunities.
