Internal Medicine/Medical Genetics Residency Program

The Department of Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, offers a four-year residency program that integrates training in traditional internal medicine with training in medical genetics and genomics. Approved by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Genetics, this innovative, combined track prepares physicians to meet the growing demand for expertise at the intersection of two rapidly evolving fields.

Our program is designed for physicians who aspire to become clinical leaders in medical genetics and genomics, translating cutting-edge advances into real-world therapies for patients with complex genetic disorders. It is also a great fit for MD-PhD graduates seeking to develop translational or clinical research programs in areas transformed by genetic innovation and discovery. Upon completion, residents are Board-eligible in both Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics, positioning them uniquely to shape the future of precision medicine.
