The Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West hospitals are located at two sites on the west side of Manhattan. The Morningside campus comprises 523-beds and operates one of Manhattan’s few Level-1 trauma services, and the West campus near Columbus circle is a tertiary care center with 505-beds which includes the renowned Addiction Institute of New York. The diverse patient population and clinical settings between the campuses provides a unique opportunity for trainees in our Psychosomatic Medicine fellowship. In addition to general medicine and surgery units, there are multiple specialty units, including neurosurgery, OB-GYN, intensive cardiac care, geriatrics, and physical medicine/rehabilitation. Fellows will also gain outpatient experience at one of the Institute of Advanced Medicine’s HIV clinics, with supervision provided by specialists in HIV medicine and psychiatry.
Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside-Mount Sinai West
The curriculum is structured to meet the needs of fellows seeking a firm foundation in the essentials of Psychosomatic Medicine. Fellows are encouraged to participate in research and teaching opportunities and to present at departmental grand rounds. Weekly didactics are held in conjunction with the Mount Sinai Hospital fellowship and focus on all the core topics in the field. In addition, biweekly case conferences allow for lively discussion of challenging cases. By the completion of the program, fellows will have the skills necessary to work in the changing landscape of embedded psychiatry models.
