Simulation Fellowships
The Center for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS) at Mount Sinai West pioneered the first Simulation Fellowship Program in New York City as early as 2007. The one-year program provides experiential learning opportunities to eligible physicians with a strong interest in simulation to improve healthcare. The CAMS Fellowship Program has played a vital role in helping to educate and train healthcare professionals to improve the quality and safety of patient care in a safe learning environment using simulation.
Over the course of the year, they develop curricula, run simulation sessions, debrief learners, and implement their scholarly project, under the guidance and mentorship of clinical faculty experienced in healthcare simulation education. The program is a joint collaborative work of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine which seeks to develop future leaders within the field of healthcare simulation.

The Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai Beth Israel offers a six-month mentored fellowship in Simulation Education. Fellows receive advanced training in simulation teaching, curriculum design, and simulation research. The Fellowship spans a dedicated six-month period of time in the third year of fellowship. There are up to two positions available per academic year.
Eligibility
- Third-year of enrollment in Mount Sinai West-Morningside or Beth Israel Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship
- Personal Statement of Professional Interest
- Approval of the Department Chair or Designee
The Hospital Medicine Simulation Fellowship position offers a special opportunity to interested IM residency graduates who would like to pursue a specific education pathway specializing in simulation methodology. Fellows work clinically as a 0.7 FTE Hospitalist during their 12-month Fellowship. There are up to two positions available per academic year.

The Emergency Medicine Simulation Fellowship is a one year mentored fellowship that offers advanced training in simulation teaching, curriculum and operational design, quality improvement and simulation research paired with experiential opportunities to change actual medical practice. As a major training site for residents and medical students, the fellows are able to work closely with junior trainees providing both clinical and teamwork based education on an ongoing basis throughout the year. They work closely with the administrative divisions to advance quality and safety through teamwork based training and research projects focused on risk reduction in the clinical environment.
