Mount Sinai Children’s Brain and Spinal Tumor Center

Having a child diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor is one of the scariest moments that a parent can experience. The Mount Sinai Children’s Brain and Spinal Tumor Center provides patients and their family with all of the necessary medical treatments and support needed to navigate their specific diagnosis in order to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes matched with a good quality of life.

Our highly skilled team of medical specialists including pediatric neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuropathologists, and radiation oncologists work together in a coordinated manner to develop a diagnosis and treatment plan. Our center utilizes the most advanced neuroimaging, neurosurgical and radiation therapy technologies that allow improved surgical removal of tumor tissue and tumor cell killing with minimal injury to nearby healthy tissue. Furthermore, we work closely with the outstanding pediatric subspecialists at Kravis Children’s Hospital including neurology, neuropsychology and rehabilitation medicine to maximize recovery as well as help manage treatment-related toxicities related to other tissues including the heart, liver, kidneys, and endocrine organs.

We belong to national clinical trial research consortia including the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and are part of one of the leading medical research institutions in the United States - ranked #2 in both neuroscience and genetics nationally in 2021 in terms of NIH funding. We currently have the largest pediatric brain tumor research footprint in the NYC region and are always seeking to translate our latest scientific findings into innovative clinical trials to benefit our patients.
