The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) is the leading provider of nationally and internationally recognized web-based courses in research ethics, compliance, and professional development. We offer these web-based services to researchers, students and faculty, IRB members, research administrators, nurses, and more. CITI courses are created by experts of their fields and courses continually undergo strict peer reviews to ensure accuracy and a high-quality standard. Courses are constantly updated, so content stays relevant and fresh for users. Our online services are used by more than 2,200 organizations worldwide.  

What do they offer?

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has a basic subscription to CITI, which includes courses in Animal Care and Use, Conflicts of Interest, Good Clinical Practice, Human Subjects Research, Information Privacy and Security, and Responsible Conduct of Research.

Each course has several modules within the topic. For example, the Responsible Conduct of Research course includes a basic course, a refresher course, and additional modules of interest. Most CITI courses include detailed content, images, case studies, and quizzes. Completion time is aimed at an average of 30—45 minutes for each module within a course.

How to Sign In?

Visit: https://www.citiprogram.org

If you need to create a new account:

1. Click Log In (top right of the window)

2. Click "LOG IN THROUGH MY INSTITUTION"

3. Scroll and select “Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

4. Type in your Mount Sinai Email Address and Password

5. Select "I don't have a CITI Program account and I need to create one."

6. Click "Create a New CITI Program Account"

If you already have a CITI account:

1. Click Log In (top right of the window)

2. Click "LOG IN THROUGH MY INSTITUTION"

3. Scroll and select “Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

4. Type in your Mount Sinai Email Address and Password

5. Select "I already have a CITI Program account."

6. Enter your existing Username and Password to link your account to your Mount Sinai Credentials.

Now you are free to sign up for any courses you are required to take.

To add a new course:

On your Profile page, in the "My Learner Tools for Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai" section:

1. Click "Add a Course"

2. Scroll to select the relevant topic/course (example: Responsible Conduct of Research)

3. Select your course (example: Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research)

4. Click "Submit"
