The Transplant Research Program is a part of The Recanti/Miller Transplantation Institute (RMTI) at Mount Sinai; one of the largest adult and pediatric abdominal transplant centers in the world.
Our researchers explore new therapies designed to improve the quality of life for transplant recipients, pre-and post-transplant. As a multidisciplinary team, we work closely with Mount Sinai Health System physicians in a variety of specialties including medicine, infectious diseases, endocrinology, and oncology, to offer our patients the opportunity for participation in the most cutting edge research in the field of transplantation.
We offer a broad range of clinical research opportunities to our patients. Some areas of focus include:
- Prevention of organ rejection and long-term graft survival following transplantation
- Organ transplantation in HIV-positive patients
- Treatment for liver diseases such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis in adults and children
- Liver Cancer
- Tracheal transplantation
