Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance

At the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we are driven by a passion for transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to empower patients to reclaim their independence, regain their mobility, and reintegrate into their communities. Ranked No. 1 in the nation by Newsweek, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of rehabilitation medicine through groundbreaking research, innovative treatments, and exceptional patient care.

Seventeen programs in our Department are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, including Spinal Cord System of Care, Brain Injury, Stroke, Amputation Specialty, and Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation. The Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center is the only center in New York City accredited in all of these specialty areas, demonstrating our excellence in care for varied populations. Additionally, The Mount Sinai Hospital is nationally ranked for Rehabilitation by U.S. News & World Report® for 2024-25.

Our interdisciplinary team of experts collaborates seamlessly to provide comprehensive, personalized care for a wide range of conditions, including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and complex chronic illnesses.
