Message from the Program Director

Thank you for considering joining the Pediatric Residency Program at The Mount Sinai Hospital. And congratulations on choosing a career in pediatrics.

Our house staff and faculty continuously rally around a common goal – to improve the lives of the patients and families of those we serve. We do this by offering expert clinical care to the children residing in Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital’s surrounding neighborhoods and beyond. The complexity of our patient population is reflective of the diversity for which New York City is famous, and we meet the needs of those we serve by striving for commensurate diversity among our trainees, faculty, and staff. Our residents come from diverse backgrounds in all arenas – beyond race, class and gender, our training program brings together bright minds with a variety of educational backgrounds and life experiences, and this richness of thought brings unique perspective to addressing the needs of our patients, whether the diagnosis is bread-and-butter or rare and complex.

Our graduating residents regularly match in top-ranked subspecialty fellowships. Our curriculum provides the building blocks for a comprehensive, well-rounded education in pediatrics while remaining balanced and flexible. We pride ourselves on our open invitation to frequent feedback from current residency classes to improve the experience for our residents in real time, not years down the road. In this way, we welcome and encourage our residents to play an active role in their learning. Our down-to-earth approach to education ensures that our residents receive rigorous training in a nurturing environment, where they are afforded the flexibility to incorporate research, quality improvement initiatives, service projects, education, or other interests into their training. Flexibility in our curriculum and schedule also means that our residents are able to pursue their passions outside of the hospital, and take full advantage of all that New York City has to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program. We look forward to meeting you in person, and we are excited to share with you why Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York City is the ideal place in which to learn, work and grow.
