For Medical Students

Applying for residency can feel overwhelming. The faculty and staff at Mount Sinai is here to provide help for navigating the residency process. We are here to help.

Applications for Residency

We will be accepting applications for eight (8) categorical positions. We are the only PM&R residency to offer categorical positions in New York City.

Applications for the ISMMS PM&R Residency Program can be completed through ERAS. We accept both allopathic and osteopathic candidates. Interviews are typically completed from September to January. We participate in the NRMP Main Residency Match.

COVID-19 UPDATE: All residency interviews will be held virtually for the 2022-2023 interview season

Visiting Medical Students

We accept medical students for visiting rotations from all accredited medical schools. Please apply for a spot through VSAS. While completing a visiting rotation, you will have the opportunity to rotate at Mount Sinai Hospital in one of our inpatient rehabilitation units (spinal cord injury or brain injury) and in our Faculty Practice outpatient clinic.

ISMMS also offers visiting electives to fourth-year medical students who are from groups underrepresented in medicine. “For the purposes of this program, we define groups underrepresented in medicine as Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Alaska Native, and Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian”.

East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP)

EHHOP is the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai's student-run, physician-supervised free clinic. We provide primary care to uninsured adults in East Harlem. Our services are confidential and are provided at no cost.
