Message from the Chiefs

We are thrilled to introduce ourselves as the 2024-2025 Chief Residents: Ian, Esha, and Irene. Thank you for your interest in our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Residency program at Mount Sinai. Our program offers a unique and enriching experience that stands out in the field.

As the only categorical PM&R program in New York City, we provide comprehensive training over all four years of residency. Our location in one of the nation's most diverse cities offers a large concentration of physiatrists and unparalleled opportunities for clinical exposure. Our didactic curriculum features speakers from multiple departments within Mount Sinai and renowned experts from across the country. At Mount Sinai, you will encounter a wide array of cases, including many you might only expect to read about in board review books. By the time you graduate, you will be fully prepared to step into an attending role with confidence.

Our department is known for its strong camaraderie, not only within our program but also with colleagues from other New York City programs. We prioritize a positive work-life balance, allowing you to fully enjoy the vibrant life that New York City has to offer. From Broadway shows and food tours to exploring Central Park and visiting world-class museums, there's always something exciting to do in your downtime.

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai PM&R Residency Program is dedicated to developing strong, knowledgeable, and compassionate physiatrists. Upon graduation, you will leave with confidence in your abilities and life-long friendships with your co-residents and attendings.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our program. If you would like to speak with us directly, our contact information is available on the current resident page. We look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,
Ian O’Connor MD, Esha Jain MD, and Irene Kalbian MD
