Distinction in Medical Education

Distinction in Medical Education (DIME) recognizes graduating students who have taken leadership roles in medical education and have developed and implemented a scholarly project in medical education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Apply for DIME

DIME requires a strong, scholarly project plus significant activities in at least two of the remaining domains:

  • Education Research and Scholarship (required scholarly project)
  • Teaching and Tutoring
  • Innovative Curriculum Design and/or Assessment
  • Advising/Mentoring
  • Education Administration and Leadership

DIME applications must also include a letter from the student’s mentor (ISMMS faculty member) supporting the application and endorsing the submitted scholarly product as well as a confirmation of good academic standing from Student Affairs.

Students receiving a Distinction in Medical Education will be notified in March and recognized with a plaque at the Achievement Ceremony. If you have any questions about applying for DIME, send an e-mail to InstituteMedEd@mssm.edu.
