The Grants and Contracts Office (GCO) of the Icahn School of Medicine (ISMMS) is the centralized administrative office that oversees the sponsored programs application and award process and provides support to faculty regarding research activities. The GCO documents policy, provides on-going information to faculty regarding sponsorship, policy changes, funding opportunities, and generally assists faculty in all aspects of the pre-award process. The GCO also collects data regarding faculty research performance and reports to senior management regarding institutional performance.
All sponsored project and research proposals, excluding projects in which BRANY serves as the IRB and negotiates the clinical trial agreement on behalf of Mount Sinai, must be submitted to the Grants and Contracts Office. We evaluate each program and proposal for accuracy of administrative information and budget, as well as for compliance with Federal, State, New York City, and ISMMS regulations, such as those pertaining to biosafety, or to the use of human subjects, vertebrate animals, or recombinant DNA.
