In 2016, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) and Stony Brook University School of Medicine (SBUSOM) signed an agreement to collaborate on education programs and research designed to transform human healthcare. This partnership leverages the excellence in education, innovation, and discoveries of both world class institutions.
By joining forces, we look to take medical education and biomedical research to the next level, fostering synergy across classrooms and research initiatives through joint graduate and medical educational programs, as well as summer undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate training. We enhance existing programs and broaden options as students choose from courses at each institution, faculty serve in both primary and adjunct positions, and investigators bolster their resources and enhance funding opportunities for collaborative projects.
ISMMS and SBUSOM are collaborating to develop research projects in areas such as biomedical engineering and computer science; drug discovery and medicinal chemistry; neuroscience, neurology, and psychiatry; basic biology and novel therapeutics, public health and health systems.
Together, the Icahn School of Medicine and Stony Brook School of Medicine are committed to changing the face of medicine, both today and for future generations.
