Faculty Development

Faculty development is central to the Department of Graduate Education's mission of building a dynamic environment for educational excellence. We provide faculty with programs and resources that support career growth, strengthen teaching practice, and enhance professional fulfillment.

Professional and Personal Enrichment

The department supports faculty through mentorship enrichment programs that foster high-quality, equity-focused mentoring relationships. These programs are available through the Office of Faculty Development.

The Faculty-to-Faculty Mentoring Program through Icahn Connect uses an automated matching system to pair junior and senior faculty based on career needs and interests.

Mentoring Training, offered twice yearly, provides a four-part workshop based on curriculum from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. This training is required for all faculty who mentor trainees in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Mount Sinai.

Leadership Development Workshops, offered twice per year at no cost, help faculty enhance leadership skills and improve team well-being through one-hour interactive sessions.

Levy Library Resources

The Levy Library's Educational Technology team collaborates with educators to integrate augmented and artificial intelligence, evidence-based resources, critical thinking, and cognitive theory into the curriculum. The team provides tools and training that inspire innovative teaching, and works with instructors to design, execute, and evaluate projects aimed at transforming teaching and learning. Their contributions amplify curricular transformation, optimize resource investments, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful learning experiences.
