Curriculum

The Master of Science in Health Care Delivery Leadership program allows you to expand your health care expertise and learn skills in leadership development and improve your technical knowledge. We offer a flexible online learning experience so that you can meet your educational goals and maintain employment. Students have two completion timelines to choose from:

  • Option One: Accelerated Master of Science Degree
    Two weeks on-campus training, plus 16 months online
  • Option Two: Part-Time Master of Science Degree
    Two weeks on-campus training, plus online coursework completed part time over 30 months (approx. four courses per year)

Core Training Areas

Students in the Master of Science in Health Care Delivery Leadership program are trained across three domains, each of which has been created to help you advance to leadership roles within your organization.

The Personal Leadership Development domain enhances your ability to navigate real-world organizational duties, and teaches you how to:

  • Build and manage team decision making
  • Update and improve project leadership skills
  • Lead change management processes
  • Manage conflict and problem solve
  • Develop cultural competence to serve heterogeneous populations
  • Recognize and analyze the ethical dimensions that arise in the course of health care delivery

The Technical and Substantive Knowledge domain teaches you the administrative skills needed for everyday work in your career, and hones your ability to:

  • Use financial information in strategic decision making
  • Navigate medical reimbursement and payment systems
  • Use economic analyses to understand major market influences and to find organizational cost effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Identify successful models of cost containment that enhance quality service delivery
  • Apply operations management tools/practices toward performance improvement and optimization
  • Apply basic tenets of human resource management to health care delivery problems
  • Appraise the use of evidence-based and leveraged translational science for decision making in health care delivery
  • Articulate the role of information systems and technologies in improving patient-centered health care delivery
  • Understand the content and likely implications of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the nature of the regulatory system
  • Identify potential methods for managing patient growth under ACA
  • Analyze social and behavioral determinants of health
  • Craft potential solutions to the major challenges of public health interventions
  • Apply principles of safety and risk management towards improving health care delivery effectiveness
