Adult Leukemia Program

The Adult Leukemia Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is an internationally recognized effort aimed at developing novel therapies for both acute and chronic leukemia. The Program provides expert clinical care—through the Center of Excellence for Blood Cancers and Myeloid Disorders—while conducting breakthrough translational research to understand the underlying causes of leukemia and improve treatment options.

Our clinical care team encompasses medical hematologist-oncologists, bone marrow transplant physicians, hematopathologists, oncology pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, and medical assistants. It also includes specialists from across The Mount Sinai Hospital in infectious disease, pulmonary and critical care, nephrology, cardiology, gastroenterology, interventional radiology, and palliative care. Given the diversity in patient population seen across the Mount Sinai Health system, we are particularly interested in providing access to cutting-edge developmental therapeutics that have historically not included minority populations.

The Adult Leukemia Program is dedicated to understanding the biologic basis of acute and chronic leukemia. Our research addresses targeted therapies, novel antibodies, bispecific T-cell and Nk-cell engagers, as well as hematopoietic stem cell products. Through extensive collaboration with laboratory researchers, we bring our findings directly to our patients, who have access to many state-of-the-art clinical trials.

The Mount Sinai Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship Program

The Mount Sinai Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship Program mentors the next generation of clinical and academic leaders in hematology and medical oncology. In addition to robust clinical exposure, which includes rotations on the inpatient leukemia service, this fellowship designates 18 months of protected research time for fellows. The opportunity to attend any of the leukemia outpatient centers and engage in clinical and laboratory research—with a focus on both cases of myeloid and lymphoid leukemia—is available to all trainees.
