Education

The Department of Oncological Sciences provides comprehensive education on many areas of cancer research. Our Cancer Biology Training Program trains the next generation in approaches aimed at translational research advances to clinical care, including advanced coursework in both basic and clinical cancer biology. Our Seminar Series features internationally acclaimed investigators discussing cutting-edge clinical, translational, and basic research topics in cancer.

Cancer Biology Training Program

The Cancer Biology Training Program is funded by an NCI T32 training grant and is led by Stuart Aaronson, MD, and James Manfredi, PhD. Designed to train predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in rigorous didactic, as well as state-of-the-art laboratory and/or computational research, the training program frequently collaborates with the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, providing education and mentored research training. We also work with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to provide career development and professional enrichment.

Seminar Series

We hold a weekly seminar series featuring accomplished researchers exploring cancer-related topics that range from fundamental mechanisms to translational and clinical research. In addition to expanding our collective cancer knowledge base, this forum gives trainees, staff, and faculty the opportunity to interact and develop collaborations with outstanding scientists from multiple disciplines and institutions.
