Applications

The Icahn School of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West Psychiatric Residency Training Program participates in the National Resident Match Program (#207041) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications are accepted from Sept 15th to Dec 1st each academic year.

Complete applications include:

  • The ERAS Common Application Form
  • Personal Statement
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Medical school transcript
  • Dean’s Letter from your medical school, better known as the MSPE
  • Official USMLE transcript (Pass for Steps 1 and 2, or pending Step 2 score)

Graduates from medical schools outside the United States or Canada must also provide an ECFMG Certification Status Report.

COMLEX scores are an acceptable substitute for USMLE.

Our program is participating in the ERAS Supplemental Application process this year. You may opt to provide information about past experiences that are important to you and indicate geographic preferences and program signals. This information will be viewed in the context of our holistic review of your full application and will not determine eligibility for interviews.

Interviews:
Our interview and selection process begins in early November and runs through late January. Because of the large number of applications, we are not able to interview all applicants. After receipt of your completed application, your material will be reviewed by the Residency Selection Committee. If you are selected for interview, you will receive an invitation by email and may select a date through our online scheduling system (thalamusGME).  The interview days start at 8:30 am EST and end by 4 pm.

International Graduates:
Approximately 10% of applicants invited for an interview are graduates of international medical schools. If it has been over four years since you completed medical school, you will not be considered. As an international graduate, we expect you to have successfully taken the USMLE and passed each part at the first attempt. While there is no specific cut-off score, your candidacy is improved by your scores. Our hospital sponsors H and J visas, if all the necessary criteria are met.
