MD/MPH Admissions

The MD/MPH program at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai allows you to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree while simultaneously working towards your medical degree. Our dual degree MD/MPH program builds upon your expertise and prepares you to handle both the issues faced by medical professionals as well as the challenges specific to public health.

How to Apply

Once you are accepted into the MD program, you must complete a supplemental application. You can get this form by emailing publichealth@mssm.edu. When we receive the completed form, we will collect your submitted American Medical College Application Service® application for review. A separate SOPHAS application is not necessary.

There are two options for studying at Icahn Mount Sinai’s MD/MPH program.

  • Four-Year Option:  If you wish to complete your dual degree in MD/MPH in four years, you can take courses in public health in the evening, once medical school classes have ended.
  • Five-Year Option:  You can also choose to complete your MD/MPH degree over five years. Students who decide to pursue the five-year dual degree plan often devote their year off from medical school (known as scholarly year) to work on their MPH degree.
